About Us

Nakia has been in the real estate industry since 2005.  Having finished a career in law enforcement for over a decade; Nakia began helping friends and colleagues achieve the dream of home ownership .  As an instructor in law enforcement, teaching was natural and Nakia began giving back to the real estate industry as an instructor.  He has been afforded the opportunity to travel the nation teaching on some of the biggest stages.  He became a broker in 2014 and has never looked back.  

Heartland Real Estate was born out of a desire to fix the things he didn’t like as a real estate agent.  A brokerage where agents can work their businesses all the while in compliance with the Georgia Real Estate Commission.  Culture, Technology and Compensation are the key pillars to a real estate business and that is focus brought at Heartland Real Estate. 

Nakia is also the 2026 Vice President of Professional Development for the Georgia REALTORS® and a member of the Northeast Atlanta Metro Association of REALTORS® (NAMAR), where he served as President in 2023. He was the 2024 Region 2 Director for Georgia REALTORS® and moved up to Vice President of Governmental Affairs in 2025.  Nakia has been a member of multiple local associations for years, where he served on numerous committees and received Volunteer of the Year from I-85 North Board of REALTORS®.

Nakia has received numerous accolades, including NAMAR REALTOR® of the Year (2021), Georgia REALTORS® REALTOR® of the Year (2022), the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) C2EX Ambassador of the Year (2023), and NAMAR – Captain of the Industry Award (2024).

A real estate instructor since 2010, Nakia has taught thousands of students and believes education is the true key to success in real estate. He holds approximately 10 real estate designations.

Nakia has served on NAR committees and was an NAR National Director (2022-2024). He graduated from the Georgia REALTOR® Leadership Academy (2019) and also the NAR National Academy (2025).

Nakia is a Golden “R” investor in the REALTOR® Party (RPAC) and a member of NAR’s President’s Circle.
